Olbermann:

We shouldn't redefine marriage?

16 states had laws in 1967 against black-white marriage. In nearly 1/3rd states would not have allowed the current president elect's parents to marry.

Aside: The funny thing is that Olbermann sounds a little like Eyring in parts of his speech. Olbermann is using his GA voice, lol.

Makes me wonder if a majority of blacks are pissed off that some of their own can now marry whites, since they were one of the major groups who overwhelmingly voted for Prop 8.

Most of the blacks I know are upset that they are being lumped in with gay people.

They didn't choose to be black, that is what they are. They still believe that gay people choose to be gay.

That is what makes me laugh everytime someone throws that out there.

Ask as black person if they feel segregation = Prop 8 and they will become very very offended.

Somebody forgot to tell Olbermann. Apparently he feels it's apples to apples. And he should know - after all, he is a pasty white guy.

Olberman is a douche. He has his head so far up his ass that even MSNBC had to roll their eyes and pull him off of Obama's jock during the DNC.

It's not an exact comparison. It is a good comparison because it gives an example of another group that was singled out by the majority for no apparent reason. Blacks and gays have always been thought of as second class citizens. The hope is that when the homophobes quit seeking to hurt homosexuals, they will be able to find equality like black people did when racists weren't allowed to make laws to harm them. Prop 8 supporters are homophobes if not bigots. Statements like, "gays want society to legitimize their lifestyle" is homophobic. Olbermann hit the nail on the head when he used the golden rule.

I voted yes on 8, I have 2 gay uncles...I don't fear them or the othery gay people I associate with.

Because you supported Prop 8. That's the only proof the no on Prop 8 crowd need to make it true in their minds.
