Does anybody really hope for any solution
 

to the raging hostilities of Islamic extremists?

I watched the Kingdom last night and have been contemplating Bhutto's death, wondering when, if ever, it might be mitigated or slowed. It seems as if the confluence of poverty, oppressive governments, religious extremes and constant conflict make it impossible for reasonable minds to govern. It has been a problem for centuries and the only successful parties have been those who ruled with an extremely brutal and strong hand.
