Wikipedia says he was reared LDS but is now non-practicing. I would list Jack Morris as the best MLB pitcher with LDS connections.

If you don't hold yourself out as Mormon, then you don't count.

Sort of like Paul Walker. And numerous other hollywood people. Like Ryan Gosling. Etc.

I would prefer to take the Jewish approach, and take anybody who claims a connection.

You then can have Orthodox, Conservative and Reformed camps, as well as degrees of observance.

If you limit it to devout, hyper-orthodox, as being the only true blue members, you will narrow the field substantially.

Does Jack Morris claim any affiliation? I doubt it.
