Niu is staying at Navy

Once again one of BYU's top choices rebuffs BYU's overtures.

BYU may be relegated to hiring assistants from bigger programs. Sigh.

Disappointing.

I guess his testimony isn't as strong as he tried to make people believe.

And I said that Coach KN couldn't be left dangling. If that's what happened.

It's pretty said when the BYU job could be considered a step down from the Navy job.

MikeWaters 12-17-2015 05:32 AM

I guess it's true after all. Holmoe did take Coach KN to Los Hermanos for dinner, and insulted him by trying to convince him it was good Mexican.

ChinoCoug 12-17-2015 01:20 PM

He considered us when he wouldn't consider more storied programs. That's flattering enough.

MikeWaters 12-17-2015 02:37 PM

I don't know that we know of any storied programs that have tried to hire him. He said he had a few opportunities in the past that he passed on.

BYU could easily get a coach with D1 head coaching experience if he didn't have to be LDS.

Archaea 12-17-2015 03:50 PM

It seems BYU's zenith is past. We are a stepping stone or a dumpster for coaches.

Maryland isn't storied, but that was one of them.

We don't know that BYU actually even offered. The triple option thing is a valid concern.
