Katrina fallout in Dallas

Starting to get emails requesting mental health professionals in Dallas to either help or be prepared to help. Psychological counseling, med refills and the like.

The sick thing about our society is that one wonders if ones malpractice insurance will cover it.

I've already faced the uncomfortable circumstance of saying no to church leaders when asked to do pro bono because I didn't have any malpractice insurance to cover it. And given what happened later, I'm VERY GLAD I said no. Wasn't worth risking my entire financial future to save someone a copay.

as I'm watching the news, it is becoming more and more apparent that the govt. relief effort is FUBAR. All the way from national to state to local.

Heads need to roll.

i feel for...

health care professionals and the awkward positions they frequently are put in because of their jobs.

especially from the members of their wards. wanting free healthcare, med refills, advice, etc...

we had a dr a couple of years back in my home ward that treated a patient during sunday school....a week later the kid got super sick and was hospitalized, the father, wanted the dr to pay for his kids hospitalization because he didnt do a good job.

No good deed goes unpunished.

I'm sure that the other lawyers here could share some fun stories about ward members wanting free advice/services.

In my last ward just as I was getting licensed, one of my attorney friends who is barred in DC and Colorado (we live in VA) told me I should unlist my phone number and get it out of the ward directory. I should have listened. :-)

the biggest difficulty is ooing things in areas you're not

practicing in.

I don't do family law, unless the Bishop requests it.
