Exactly. The fact that this is news says a lot.

Hey, we can agree about something! How 'bout that? :)

I've never understood the hate for the ACLU. I remember my nutty seminary teacher ranting about the ACLU on a daily basis. He seemed to think the ACLU had a spy for every Mormon and was determined to bring down the church. There is no need to fear the ACLU unless you are trampling someone's rights.

I'll be darned. The ACLU is defending the rights of a minority. Who'd have thought?

I feel reasonably certain in asserting that, were we members of the church in a state with fewer than a 5% LDS population, we'd like the ACLU quite a bit.

So if Christians suddenly found themselves in the minority in the U.S., the ACLU would immediately take up their cause?

I think it goes back to their founder Roger Baldwin. He was a communist at heart and was using the ACLU to further his socialist agenda (which was definitely anti-religion) while at the same time selling it as some sort of patriotic organization. Basically, the ACLU was not what it purported to be. Some would say not much has changed and they're still a bunch of phonies. With alot of power.

Or, say, a Mormon finds himself in the minority in West Virginia?

So your answer is yes. Okay.
