Artists/Bands whose popularity I've never fully understood.

Again, no particular order

1) Kiss How did these guys happen after Led Zeppelin? I'm too young to have been responsible for it, but seriously how did it happen?

2) AC/DC I know, I know, that's almost sacrilege. But beyond their 2 great songs ("You shook me" and "Back in Black") I find AC/DC to be one of the more annoying bands in classic rock. Yes, those 2 songs were good. But the rest of their work does nothing for me.

3) Rush Things I know about Rush: Probably the most musically talented band top to bottom in Rock History. Probably the most meaningful lyrics in Rock History. I still can't hardly get through a whole song without changing the station. Maybe it's the muppet voice, or maybe I'm just Rush retarded. But Rush just doesn't do it for me like they do it for everyone else. It's a band I've always wanted to "get", but so far I haven't.

4) Gwen Stefani When exactly did Gwen decide that she was going to turn into a 17 year old African American girl? How do you go from ska to hip hop or whatever she's calling this new style? And the crazy thing is that it's working. There was a group of young women in my ward who was shocked to learn that Gwen was my age and nowhere near theirs.

5) Elvis Don't get me wrong here, I understand that he was the first white guy to do what he did. But man did he crank out some really bad music to go along with anything good that he did. I'd estimate that for every 1 good Elvis tune there are 3.5 awful ones.

Agree with everybody but Rush.

Rush grows on you. The voice is weird, but it grows.

The lyrics are mesmerizing, once you listen.

Rush and Led Zepplin are my two all time favorite rock bands.

The KISS Reunion Tour in 96 when they put the make up back on is still to this day the most entertaining show I've ever been to and I've been to a ton.

I don't think that ALL music neccessarily has to be thought provoking with fantastic lyrics. Music can and should be fun to, but then again I listen to and love just about every genre of music, save one here or there.

I have Gwen Stefani's latest CD, and most of it is indeed crap.

I will say, however, that there is something about her (if not her music) that is incredibly appealing, and it's not just her abs. She has a certain charisma, sexiness, and playfulness that tends to drive me wild. Apparently, I'm not the only one.

The Beatles.

The beatles? Before I respond a question: How old are you and when were your ear drums first perforated?

Kidding, of course, but I must believe your attitude is simply becasue when you came of musical age the Beatles were old and taken for granted. True?

This is easy. It was all about the show. And the shock value. My mother thought I was lost to Satan when I went to a KISS concert in HS. It was great fun.

Oh come on. What about Thunderstruck? TNT? Highway to Hell?

Here is one for me: Shania Twain.

I will agree that she is wonderful to look at, but I can't stand her music. No talent at all. Gag.
