The New World

I saw The New World last night. It is the anti-blockbuster: it moves at its own pace, not much dialog, quiet and deliberate. But the cinematography and the score were the best I've seen in some time, maybe ever. I know this may sound dumb, but it was more poetry than a movie, but I enjoyed it thoroughly.

That is one of the first positive reviews I have heard of this movie at all.

For a point of reference, I'll really liked Thin Red Line, and this movie has a very similar style. If you didn't like TRL, you will not like this movie.

If you are going to see this movie, you should see it in a theater, unless you have at least a 51' at home. As I said, the most impressive parts are the visions of America untouched by Western hands and the score - Wagner and Mozart.

It's not for everyone for sure, but if you're in a mellow mood, it's worth the time, I think.
