My wish which will never be is that both camps let reason reign so that both sides could honestly sit down together. Each side haunting the other is what perpetuates the current family feud.

Israel is pretty darn smart. They have all the money, weapons, and land, force the Palestinians to live in a prison camp, essentially, and have convinced the world that these prisoners are evil, dangerous people with whom one can never negotiate.

You believe the Israelis would accept peace tomorrow. A fair peace. But it's the evil Palestinians who won't accept a fair deal, and thus they can't be dealt with in any reasonable fashion.

What I'm saying - and I'm sure you know this - is that Arafat talked out of both sides of his mouth. He tells the Israelis he wants peace and tells the Palestinians to kill the Israelis.

Yeah, how does anyone negotiate with someone that steals your home, economically grinds you into the ground, bombs your home, steals your water, restricts your movement, and kills your children? You know, drops white phosphorous bombs on U.N. schools serving as bomb shelters?

I don't believe there will ever be two states. The Palestinians will never accept crumbs, and the Israelis will never offer more than crumbs. Eventually the moral weight of running an apartheid state will collapse, and Israel as an ostensibly Jewish state will collapse. And hopefully this will happen peacefully, much as Utah as a Mormon territory-nation has collapsed.

For someone who claims to hate black-and-white world views, you certainly are sure of yourself on some of the most complex issues of our time.
