Dallas Morning News: BYU "radioactive"

Quote:

Sources indicated that Borens's favorite in expansion was BYU, which is now viewed as radioactive because of its stance on LGBT and Title IX issues pending any changes in the school's honor code. But it does have the backing of the Big 12's TV partners, especially ESPN.

Was that today? I heard them tease the segment but I didn't get to listen to it

How long after it became obvious did it take them to get it? They were blathering about fans and 1984 and Detmer long after it was obvious this would not determine BYU's fate. This latest expansion saga is one of my favorite examples demonstrating that sports writers are stupid and myopic.

Amazingly your keen insight disrupted my long-held belief that sportswriters were at the front of the line for those nominated on Nobel Prize for Literature watch lists. Way to bruise me and to crush my delusions.

Where did anybody ever accuse sportswriters of having keen insights into social or political issues?

Nobel is extreme. I thought Carlton and Dodd were shortlisted for the Pulitzer.
