Offensive talent

I'd say we have top 10 in the nation talent at:

QB
RB
OL (top 5)
TE (top 5)

Maybe top 20 at WR with Collie.

We are a legit top 5 offense, maybe higher.

If we're top 10 team at RB, it's only because it's a down year nationally at RB.

Do we have a top 25 defense?

We have some good Dlines prospects and have at least one good LB. How bad is So'oto?

It's Unga's pass catching and route running that makes him a top 10 RB.

No, not this year. We could be top 30 to 40 by the end of the year though.

MikeWaters 09-15-2008 06:19 PM

The amazing thing about Unga is that he could conceivably play four positions:

RB
FB
TE
slot receiver

I know Indy is ripping on him, but Indy is wrong. Unga is one of the hidden gems (thanks MTN) in College Football.

I could also see Harvey at DE or MLB.

Do you think they will be just good enough?

I haven't been able to watch the dbs to know if they are average or good for us.

Yes, sorry, I meant to say "4 positions on offense."

I think you're totally off and that Unga is the real difference maker on this team.

Check this article out. NFL scouts use a formula (weight * 200)/(40 time ^4). 100 is average for NFL RB's.

At 239 and a 4.6 40, Unga rates a 107. Compare to Curtis Brown who rated an 87.5.

Plus you have to admit, Harvey has incredible knack to make the right cuts and make the extra couple yards.
