It's not that they won't expand eventually, it's just that they apparently have no incentive or reason to expand right now.

Can BYU hang on and still remain relevant for the time when they desire to expand? I worry the lack of P5 exposure and money will make it difficult for BYU to attain or maintain relevancy during that time period.

BYU will never go back to the MWC. If they decide it's time to join a conference it will be the American while perhaps trying to get Boise to go with them. The American would be fun for basketball at least.

I am glad BYU has left the mwc for good. I believe BYU belongs in a P5 conference. The only competing conferences are the Pac12, which will never happen and the BIG, which also would never happen. However, it would be interesting to see the BIG commence negotiations so that the Big 12 could be made nervous.
