School shooting
right on the heels of the mass shooting in the Portland mall.
I wish we would not publicize the identity of these shooters. That's exactly what they want. They want to go out in a blaze of glory, i.e. attain recognition. "You think I'm pathetic? I'll show all of you. You will all know who I am." Of course there are the competing goods of transparency, and the desire of the public to understand how these events come to pass. It had gone viral that this was the killer's twitter account: https://twitter.com/Ryan__Lanza Examples of his tweets: Quote:
Which was followed by this tweet from Ryan Lanza: Quote:
Goes to show also that we are more than happy to jump onto the relatively normal travails of life that people report and say "ah-hah! that's the reason he's a killer." Dumb. Not looking forward to all the articles that will explain his background. But I'm sure like many of you, I'll be reading them. |
The killings today were horrific beyond words. While these posts may seem like a very intellectualized approach to an immediate tragedy, trust me, I do have feelings and emotions about this. I just don't share them here right now.

Had a hard time sleeping last night. Was up at 3:30am in bed looking at news reports.

Victoria Soto, the young teacher who saved her class, or little Emilie Parker who is being transported to Ogden, Utah are heartbreaking stories.
