Shoes

I've been wearing Brooks Adrenaline GTS 7 shoes all year. My current pair are wearing out. I have a marathon in three weeks. Looking online the GTS 8s are now selling for the same price as the 7s. Should I buy another pair of 7s because that is what I'm used to or should I go ahead and get a pair of 8s and hope they work for me.

I'm torn. What do y'all think?

I recently went switched to the 8's and haven't noticed any difference. I would think that you would be fine, even this close.

Which marathon is it - St george?

Thanks. That's what I thought but wanted someone to confirm.

My wife told me that St. George was too far away, so I decided to show her and sign up for the Baltimore Marathon. Actually, I'm working in Pittsburgh the week before and after, so I'll drive down and give it a run. Hope it turns out better than Pokey.

Three weeks is more than enough time to break in a pair of shoes for a race.

It isn't the break-in time that I was worried about, it was going with a different model.

Did you try the new shoes out this weekend?

I went for my first long run (17 miles) this weekend with my GTS 8s. They felt pretty good, considering this was 4 miles longer than my previous longest run.

I did have a bit of discomfort in my right forefoot the next day, as well as some mild left anterior shin pain, but I think they both had more to do with the length and type of run that I did than the actual shoe.
