Pain in leg!

I have this sharp pain on the outside of my right leg near my knee. I experienced the pain about 6 weeks ago, took a week off from running, and then I haven't felt the pain again until yesterday. The pain was so sharp that I could barely get through .25 of a mile yesterday, whereas 6 weeks ago the pain didn't become really sharp until the 1.5 mile mark of a run. The pain is not there when I'm walking, only when I'm putting pressure on it when running. I wonder if it is a ligament thing or maybe a slight bone crack. Anyone felt this type of pain before?

It might be this.

But you should see a doctor if you want a diagnosis.

Agree with MW on both accounts.

Do a quick search here in the fitness and cycling forums for ITB syndrome (or some other common spelling) and you'll probably find a dozen threads talking about it.

Welcome to the ITB club. You'll be taking 3-6 weeks off. Probably closer to 6 since you're at the point where .25 miles ends your run. As goose said, we've had several good threads discussing the treatment. It's my curse and a frequent fight for me.

Think it might be this? If so, I'd rest it another week or two.

Yep I think you might be right. This is probably what I have. Great, just great.

Hey, the IT Band Club welcomes another member. I took two weeks off and slowly started running and making sure I'm streatching really good afterward. No pain since.

It sucks though and I'm sorry.
