taking just 3 weeks off. I had that surgery last month and missed 3 weeks of running. The pace at which I can now comfortably run and hold for several miles has dropped by nearly 1 minute.

I've taken six weeks off from running and have another ten days to endure. Thanks for the cheery thought.

No problem! At least your slow is still fast.

Which is why Sloan was close to killing Ostertag each fall camp. But I am so out of shape that I can't comment about Ostertag.

I am amazed what 3-4 days off can do. I can't imagine what three weeks would be like.

But it comes back pretty fast. No worries Steel. You'll be back at it soon enough.

No kidding, it sucks. I'm trying to get back into the daily running routine, but this weather is kicking my butt. I'm so sick and tired of fighting wind, ice and snow, I could puke. I've finally gotten my 4-6 mile runs under 9:00/mile, but my longer runs are up in the mid 9's. I'm running into wind 1/2 the time, so that's slowing me down.

I was just looking at my result from the Salt Lake 1/2 in April last year. I finished in 1:47. I don't see any way that I'm going to be in that kind of shape this time, and I've registered to do the full. I'm thinking it's going to be a "just finish" race, and not care about my time.

You guys and gals are young, it won't come back so easily. I cheated by sneaking onto the treadmill this morning trying to average 7:30 miles for 30 minutes and it hurt worse than it should have. I have lost a lot. And heel still hasn't healed.
