Akeelah and the Bee
our Sunday movie.
Perhaps I'm nothing but a sap, but I like these learn from tough places movies. I loved, "Stand and Deliver", "Lorenzo's Oil," and the one with Edward James Olimas or whatever his name is, about the engineer who taught math in a bad school. To show you how weird I am, I love to learn, almost anything. Learning excites me. There is a possibility we go to Africa, so I started learning Swahili, but maybe we go to Greece so I may have to learn Greek. Learning or acquiring skills is the spice of life, for me. Okay, I'm a total geek, I know. |
I thought ''Stand and Deliver" was the movie with Edward James Almos.

You may be correct, there is another about an African American principal who is also the father of a famous US track athlete.

Lean on Me? I think its Morgan Freeman in that movie. Eastside Highschool, cant remember what city.
|
That's correct.
However, the principal he portrays is a real person. And his daughter was a gold medalist in track. Joe Clark was his name, and it was in New Jersey. He transformed the school into something successful. I'm searching to see the name of his daughter. |
Here is his bio. An amazing man, with three accomplished children.
