Pet peeve: free "continental breakfast"

How much do hotels charge their guests for the "free" breakfast? $5 per night, per room?
Granted I'm not staying at the Four Seasons, but for $95 per night you would think they could do more than an assortment of dry cereals, breads, and a toaster.

I stay in hotels about 7 to 10 days out of the month, and this scene is becoming all too typical. If you're going to advertise breakfast, I want something hot and fresh, or I want a lower room rate.

Dude, seriously, you should stay at Holday Inn Express. They have free breakfast and it is 100x better than that.

After having breakfast at the hotels in Germany (and most of Europe), I will forever be biased against these "free continental breakfasts" in the USA. I wonder what the Europeans think when they come here.

I just noticed Mike's new avatar, I think he photoshopped those panties onto that woman.

I agree, continental breakfasts in Europe is a freakin' 5 star feast compared to the U.S. I loved it!

LOL, in Amsterdam I stayed on Rembrandt Square, and their breakfast consisted of assorted salamis, cheeses, and grapes.

As we ate on the patio, the morning entertainment was ugly naked guy contemplating suicide on his 4th floor loft.

Is that a real pic? I had no ugly naked guy experience but I can relate to the open-faced sandwich with fruit options. In Rome our breakfast was bagels, croissants, breads, rolls, eggs, meats, cheeses, all kinds fruit, and more. They even offered cold and hot cereal for the people that wanted to look like American tourists. It was great.
