Strange/Funny/Bad Restaurants

In any of your travels, what is the strangest restaurant that you've come across. I've seen a few, but the one that always cracks me up is one that I regularly frequent.

A local diner here in Dayton, OH called Yummy Burger actually specializes in Thai food. When the Thai owners bought the diner, they decided not to change the name despite the fact that they wouldn't really be serving burgers (they make them, but they are served on Wonder Bread). As weird as the place is, their Pad Thai is fast and cheap. I go there a few times a month.

Well, while we are on the subject of strange food and Southwestern Ohio...the whole Skyline/Goldstar chili is a little strange to the outside world. It is good enough, but is it spaghetti or chili? It can't seem to make up its mind.

I have a friend that served his mission in Cincinatti and all he talks about is BW3s and how it is the greatest place ever, honestly i think he spent 90% of his mission there because every story he tells involves that place. Of course he could just be telling the same story over and over.

I'm the wrong person to ask about chili. After a ward chili cookoff gone bad, I've sworn it off.

As for BW3's, I'm not a huge fan. It has a nice variety of wing flavors, but none are particularly great. If you go after five p.m., you have to deal with the bar crowd. If you go for lunch, they take too long. There are other wing joints that I prefer.

I'm assuming that your friend liked BW3's so much was because he was on a mission. The only thing missionaries know about food is that if they don't have to cook it themselves, it tastes good.

Ed Debevic's. We used to go to the one in Beverly Hills all the time before it closed. Nothing like having your food thrown at you and then have the entire serving crew jump up on the counter and sing Greased Lightning or something.

They would really throw food at you?

Here in the People's Republic of Monsanto we have an Ethiopian restaurant called "David's Place." The food is good, though.

Speaking of throwing food at you... The waiters at Lambert's Cafe in Sikeston, Missouri throw rolls at you. They're fresh and hot and you just raise your hand and they'll hurl it across the room at you. http://www.throwedrolls.com/

They also have one of these in Foley, Alabama (unless it got blown away by one of the Hurricanes). I had the Frog legs there once. They were terrible.
