Anybody here work out with their wife...

Even after 21 years of marriage we can't figure this one out. Her mouth says she wants to get in shape but her effort doesn't. I try and try to be patient but I can only last so long. Is it just me or do others have this same problem?

sounds like you guys need to see a sex counselor.

My wife is an avid runner, but with little kids its hard for us to exercise together. We will occasionally load the kids up along with the bikes and carriers and go for a family bike ride, but thats not terribly often.

A couple of months ago some friends offered to watch the kids on a saturday morning and we ran 10 miles together. It was actually kind of fun. Usually she does her thing with her friends and I go riding or running with the guys. It seems to work for us.

I'm at the gym at 5:30 a.m. Danimal is there around 9 p.m. Like bluegoose said, with kids and our schedules, it is nearly impossible to workout together.

The wife and I run together every morning. With four kids and a busy lifestyle, it is the only hour of the day that we can have a good conversation. It's great therapy (in addition to the cardio).

My wife has her workout routine and I have mine. Rarely do our fitness paths cross except for an occasional Saturday. As long as we're both getting a good workout I guess that's all that matters.

If that's the case, then I would say she doesn't really want to get in shape.

You've been married 7 years longer than me, so I don't presume to be able to give you advice, but I certainly wouldn't make a huge deal out of it.

As for working out with my wife, she's a big time gym rat and really doesn't like running. I can't stand going to the gym, so we rarely, if ever, work out together.

Do you want her to work out with you or do you want her to just get some exercise to be healthy?

It's her idea is what drives me crazy. She's active, runs and talks of taking it to the next level but just doesn't want to do the work to get there. Maybe she doesn't really care about getting in better shape but just wants to do something together? This has got me thinking and I think I just figured it out. Thanks for your help everyone.

My reply...no. She used to 'want' to do that...but, like you stated, never put forth the effort to do so. Either she's worn out being a mom...or just doesn't want to in the end.

I have tried over the years to come cycling with me..but, the best I've done so far is to ride around the neighborhood with her.

Bummer. Seriously, you female hotties that read this board...it would be awesome to do rides, runs etc with your wife. Keep that in mind.
