Dissembling the Documentary Hypothesis

Interestingly, unlike Q and critical analysis of the New Testament, attacks against the German and French theory of Documentary Hypothesis came from Jewish ranks, given the fact that Orthodox, observant Jews consider Hebrew Masoretic Text to be the actual word of God, much like a Muslim considers the Qu'ran.

His introduction stated:

"One of the most important attributes of science is its perpetual restlessness. It is constantly developing, changin its aspect, transforming and renewing itself, expanding and progressing without surceases. Its victories and conquests are but starting poins for fresh triumphs, and its achievements form the preparatory bases for new attainments. The structures that it builds for itself with stones quarried by analysis and arranged architectonically by sunthesis-respelendent palaces of the human intellect-- are not destined to endure forever...."

Great imagery.

Umberto Casserto, an Italian Jew. Interesting work.

The guy's name is Cassuto.

He starts off with the pillars of the Hypothesis, noting at one point the multiple names of God started the theory even it was not chief among them today (when he was writing 1940).

Interesting discussion.
