Mormon Doctrine alive and well

Our priesthood teacher brought out his copy of Mormon Doctrine and laid it next to the his lesson. He looked at the quorum and said it was to make sure he didn't teach false doctrine. Later in the lesson he asked rhetorically if it wasn't generally accepted that women tend to be more righteous than men.

Sometimes I really wish all of CG was in my ward. The entertainment value for me would be priceless.

So in your mind the purpose of the EQ DL is to offend and to generate division?

Most borderlanders would keep their mouths shut during a lesson so as not to detract from the worship of others, but it is interesting that fundies seek out ways to offend others.

Fundies don't seem to care whom they offend as they are certain as to their correctness, whereas borderlanders are uncertain being aware of the faultiness of the nature of all men.

I agree Arch. It's pretty uncool to want strife among the members of the church.

EQ DL? What's a DL, and who said it was EQ? And who said anything about giving offense?

I don't look at priesthood as two (or more) factions. I think of it as one brotherhood.

Discussion Leader.

If you don't see the two factions, why ask the question?

I don't care really what kind of beliefs a teacher has as long as he can keep my attention.

Of course, someone reading from Mormon Doctrine is not likely to keep my attention.

Even then though, I would be the one saying, "well, actually....."

Okay High Priest DL.

If one seeks to offend, then one is being divisive. And anybody citing MD is seeking to offend.

There about five of us who leave on Q. Of course, the HP GL is smart enough not to call anybody who would read from unMormon Doctrine.

I actually wish some MoDoc principles were adhered to more strictly. For example, when BRM says to keep opening and closing prayers short...under a minute....I am ALL for that.

Just commenting on the strong anti-MD, even anti-BRM, inclination on this board.

More properly worded, "Some who are offended by a simple MD citation may just be looking to be offended."

I don't think he had any such intent. It seemed to me that he thought using MD as an authoritative reference was natural.
