Norway Tragedy

Mike -- I'm actually interested in your take on this. One of the most shocking aspects of the tragedy to me is that the murderer had so much time to hunt his victims on the island. It took the cops over 40 minutes to get to the island after they were called. Why did nobody take the murderer out earlier? Was there no security on the island with the Prime Minister scheduled to speak that very day? Nobody with a gun to take out the monster? And why so long to get to the island? was there really no helicopter available to fly there in minutes and blow away the bastard?

Interesting perspective, eh?

I just know the very bare outlines. Bomb. Attack on island. Dressed as law enforcement.

People that are determined to kill can kill. Somethings can be done to mitigate it, but those things are limited. It's like the killers who have gone into daycares in China.

Unfortunately we live in a world with twisted evil minds bent on sowing sorrow and destruction.

Fortunately the vast majority of people just want to live their lives in peace.

The good folks in Norway, presumably, will attempt to study this man for many years as he lives his life in relative comfort.

The good folks in Texas would execute his ass.

Apparently the maximum prison sentence he can get is 21 years.

I saw that this morning. That's their society's decision on how to treat mass murderers. Some may applaud.

Others will not. Count me among those that will not. Capital punishment has its merits.
