Mormons and Sex: How do you compare?

This table is from, The Teaching of Nonmarital Sexual Abstinence and Members' Sexual Attitudes and Behaviors: The Case of Latter-Day Saints, Thomas B. Holman; John R. Harding, Review of Religious Research, Vol. 38, No. 1. (Sep., 1996), pp. 51-60. I believe the survey data come from 1987:

Code:

                                              Con.    Mod    Lib    No
LDS  Cath  Jew  Prot    Prot    Prot  Rel
Mean Frequency of          7.43  6.64  5.66  7.72    6.70    5.93  8.58
Having Sex in the
Last Month

Mean Frequency of          1.74  1.66  1.68  1.68    1.60    1.57  1.83
Sex Disagreement
in the Last Year

% Not having any            12.7  13.9    18.5  12.7  15.3    20.6  11.3
Sex in Last Month

% Having Sex More          8.2    7.8    2.4  12.5    7.7    6.7  14.7
than 16 Times in the
Last Month

So how do you stack up?
Do you think these numbers would look significantly different if the survey was redone since the survey data are almost 20 years old?

Conclusion: having no religion is the best way to avoid sexual constipation.

It was the only group that was statistically different.

I'm not certain our sexual habits have changed that much in the last twenty years. When it first came out, I showed it to my wife and caught a lot of grief for it. I've never really lived showing that one to her. Of course, when the bishop at the time and I were discussing it, he claims his wife came unglued when he mentioned it to her.

At first I misunderstood what you were referring to - you are talking about showing her the survey, right?

Did the conversation go like this? Honey, as member missionaries we have solemn responsibility to set the example for our conservative protestant brothers and sisters. Right now, the church looks less than true because 12.5% of them are having sex at least 16 times a month and only 8.5% of us are have sex at least 16 times a month. We must do our part.

Survey yes.

Her response was something to the effect of, "why can't those sociology friends of yours mind their own business." I told them they were just doing their jobs.

Contrary to popular opinion, I don't keep a spreadsheet on things like this.

Yes, but you know by how much having sex 16 times per month increases life expectancy. Right?
