I'm waiting for someone to post a story where missionaries are beaten up and then say, "Convincing reason to drop the missionary program forever."

I'm terrible about home teaching, but I'd say this represents a pretty genuine exception to normal home teaching visits.

It just so happens that yesterday two Mormon missionaries came to our door in the afternoon while our two youngsters were napping and I was working in my home office. One of the kids is recovering from stomach flu. The Elders rang the doorbell and banged loudly on the door like they were FBI or Isaiah come to foretell the destruction of Seattle by Persians. After they left my wife said that if they woke our kids she'd hunt them down and make them pay. Lucky for them they didn't.

I can think of a lot of good reasons why home teachers and missionaries ought never to cold call or arrive unannounced. It does more harm than good, yet this particular type of rudeness seems to pervade the institutions.

The salvation of your family is much more important than your kids' sleepy time. You should have asked them to lay hands on your sick boy. Boo hoo.

I think we can all agree that it would be best if missionaries didn't go to SU's house. ;)
