Anyone here smoke?

And I mean the kind of smoking that's against the Word of Wisdom.

Absent anyone here smoking, of the people you know who do smoke, do any of them not want to quit?

This is a strange poll. What prompted it?

Curiosity. I can't remember meeting anyone who smokes and doesn't want to quit.

It's kinda tragic.

What if we don't know anybody who smokes period? People who smoke in today's world are sick and not very useful.

There might be people who smoke, but they don't do it around me. In fact, I won't hire people who smoke and let people know it during interviews.

I know someone who smokes, and says they want to quit. But sometimes I question whether or not they really want to quit.

Flawed poll. I know dozens of people who smoke. Probably half of them want to quit, the other half could care less about the health risks.

There was an article that I read recently that stated that the majority of those that did not want to quit were in lower socioeconomic brackets. Their feeling was "my life kind of sucks - why would I want to prolong it any longer than I have to?" I haven't seen this.

I have a patient right now who is very wealthy with all the potential in the world. She owns a Pharmacy contracting company, so she is well acquainted with the health risks. She has tried to quit several times, but just enjoys it too much to want to quit. Even though she is dealing with a non-healing shoulder fracture due to her smoking she could care less. Its kind of patethic, really.

The occasional cigar while golfing, but I don't think that was the focus of your question.

It might help you prepare for a marathon.
