I think what Goat's saying is that Hall had the guts to tell the people who expected him to serve a mission that he didn't want to serve, not that he respects that Hall quit his mission. As proof, I offer this: http://www.utefans.net/message.php?i...#message546627

Let's admit it - there is a significant number of kids who serve missions because it's expected of them, not because they want to do it. The expectations start at an early age - 3 year olds learn the song "I hope they call me on a mission" - and it only builds from there.

I'm not saying that those expectations are wrong, per se, but in my mission, had all those who didn't want to be there had the guts to face those who wanted them to serve, my guess is that there would have been about 35-40 Elders (of 90-95) who wouldn't have been there.

I think Goat is yanking a few chains with that post, but I think Hall did show some guts to admit that he didn't want to be there.

Of course, I also think he's a pussy to have quit.

I think Hall will be the best R-PM QB in the history of college football.

Overall you may be right. I doubt he'll have a season like Beck did in 2006 or Joe Germaine in 1998, but his entire career may be better than those two. I think it can be argued that he is better than 2001 Doman.

Doman wasn't an RM? Wasn't Beck an RM as well?

I get it now. I initially thought the R-PM thing was a typo. Sorry to ruin your joke.

Not a joke. I think he will be the best QB of that category.

I thought I was clear. It is a cultural expectation and he said "this sucks, I quit." I can respect that type of middle finger action to any set of cultural expectations.

I wouldn't be excited if my daughter wanted to marry him, I would probably have her marry Brett Engamen. However, I think his rebel streak fits him well as a Division one eh qb.

So yes, I believe that which I spewed. Do you disagree with me?

He fell barely short statistically of the season Beck had in 2006...it's not a stretch by any means to think he could surpass that his Junior or Senior year.
