The Average American gains 6 lbs during December...

I've lost 15.

For the last three Christmases (plural?) my wife has given me slacks. Slacks I haven't worn... until this week. Yipee.

Thankfully my mom's cooking kind of stinks. Plus, I just tend to not want to eat as much.

Bad news is that m-in-law is coming in town, and she cooks better and likes to scatter candy and chocolate everywhere. Might be a couple of pounds there.

Congrats Fuegote.

What plan did you use to do that? How did you do it?

I consume a lot of extra calories during this time of year. I try to step up my workouts to burn them off but it would be so much easier if I would stop eating like I'm sixteen again. I'm up about two pounds.

Portion sizes. I don't mass eat food anymore. I splurged a little on Christmas and regretted it after feeling like crap the rest of the day. I used to eat 2-3 plates of food at my in-laws house, now I eat one and one only.

Throughout the day I eat about 3 portion sized meals and 3 portion sized snacks. Fruits, Veggies, Cheese, that kind of stuff. It's amazing how good food tastes when you're hungry.

I stopped eating sweets at work (and everywhere else) which is almost impossible where I work with everyone's candy bowl hanging out everywhere.

My bigger meals (lunch and dinner) are cooked from "The Biggest Loser Cookbook" (i kid you not) and they aren't bad at all. They're actually pretty tasty.

So instead of eating the 2200+ (more like 3000) calories/day, I'm eating 1500-1800 calories and running an hour in the morning (burning another 1000 calories because of my enormity).

I now run about 30 miles a week (which by itself is a modern day miracle).

I feel hungry throughout the day still but gum takes care of that.

I eat at 7:30, 10:00, 12:30, 3:00, 5:30 and 8:00. So I get food throughout, just not the amounts I was eating before.

Oh, and let's not forget the deal my wife made with me. Every morning I get up and work out, I get to do "sit ups" at night.

Good for you fuegote.

I myself have packed on about 15 lbs. since my last marathon in Sept. Which is actually ok, since I was only 155 to begin with. I'm pushing 170 now. I'll be back to hardcore training starting Jan. 1, so I'll probably be dropping some weight. I want to try and stay around 160-165 though, I was way too light last summer.

I think the avg. American poos many more pounds than that during the holidays. FYI.

I started at 260.... that's more than 2-40lb bags of rock salt from my wrestling weight of 171. I hate carrying those bags to my softener knowing that.

I've lost 21 lbs since Dec 1.
