This economic mess will be the end of McCain
 

People are still going to link McCain with the policies of Bush and they are going to be be looking for anything different. We seem to be headed more and more toward socialism. The founding fathers would not be happy with the direction we are headed.

No one cares what the founding fathers want... Don't you understand that if we don't give 700 billion to some rich bankers the whole world will collapse? Seriously people will start having to save up for a downpayment on a house. Don't you understand how catastrophic that will be? Credit card limits will go 20k to 10k. Banks will cease doing business with another. they will all just hold on to their cash.

McCain and Obama are exactly the same in terms of their policies, then why the hell vote for the old crochety man?

Interesting. I guess I missed something. They may agree on this particular bailout but in other areas, their policies are the same.

It's that simplistic thinking that will get Ohbama nominated. But that's good. He's going to fix everything.

McCain had a golden opportunity to distance himself from Bush, this big albatross he was carrying. All he had to do was make a cojent, articulate and forceful statement about why the bail out is a terrible idea. Hell, he could have plagiarized what Gingrich has been saying. All in one swoop he would have set himself apart from Bush, set himself in clear opposition to Obama and his federal interventionalism, and stated a position that would have been music to ears of 90% of Americans. Whether or not you agree with the bailout you have to admit he blew a platinum political opportunity. Worst political blunder I've ever seen. On top of it all, he associated himself with the failed effort to pass it the first time, against most Americans' wishes.

Stick a fork in him.

Not to mention that he just voted for a bill full of pork barrel spending, that he supposedly is against.

Must be Ralph Nader. I looked it up on Ralph's website, and he is against the bailout.

the transformation is complete. Not only is McCain no longer distancing himself from Bush, but he is completely indistinguishable from Bush now.

Good for him. Barr is also opposed.
