First Annual Blue-Steel Half Marathon

Bluegoose and I are holding our own half marathon tomorrow am. Any of you who'd like to fly in and join us are welcome to do so. We almost had the number of runners up to 3 but were unable to secure that 3rd participant losing him to a mountain bike ride.

I'd be there but I'm doing a bike ride south of you.

I did my own half-half marathon. I hope that's okay.

Well, we had a nice day for a long run. It was about 38 degrees, a slight drizzle and occasional rain/snow mix. We ran at a comfortable pace and finished in 1:45.40.

Translation - I dragged bluegoose's butt the last 3 miles to avoid having the 65 year old lady with the Pomeranian puppy wearing a snowflake sweater vest and ear muffs pass him.

He did hammer me at the end, with our last 3 miles averaging about 7:50 per mile. Overall, it felt pretty well, but I didn't have a lot left over at the end.

I don't know how you guys run so fast for so long. On my last mile I usually have a steady increase in speed and once I hit 7.5 mph I'm pretty much expending everything I have.

there's a reason why my average/mile on nike+ is > 11 minute miles.

Archaea 12-29-2007 07:46 PM

Well done. Eight minute miles for a training run is very good.

I hope to make it to the Saint George Half, if I feel up to it. My speed work has been pathetic.

Yeah right. You were doing just fine.

It's because we do LSD.

Cool. I am about to do a 1/8 marathon in your honor.
