Hi

I am Danimal's wife. I decided that instead of just hearing about interesting threads from Danimal and occasionally Farrah, that I'd register and even post. Hey--this is already post three for me so I'm on a roll.

Yay! A female! [Watch it guys, women will take over the board - just you wait!]

Very nice to meet you, Marsupial.

Detroitdad 01-18-2007 01:21 AM

Welcome aboard, Marsupial.

ute4ever 01-18-2007 02:27 AM

So what did you think of Memphis? Someone was asking the other day.

FarrahWaters 01-18-2007 04:39 AM

Hey M! Can't get enough of me, huh? ;)

UteStar 01-18-2007 05:41 AM

Welcome...it is nice to add a little class with another woman.

creekster 01-18-2007 05:47 AM

Hello Marsupial. Pleased to make your acquaintance.

RockyBalboa 01-18-2007 06:22 AM

Welcome. Always nice to have another woman on here to answer my stupid questions about the opposite sex. :)

Welcome, but I don't know how to react. marsupial has been very helpful in providing all types of Memphis info and contacts to my wife. They have emailed several times. Thank you very, very much marsupial.

However, given that ongoing contact, my two worlds are getting a little too close to colliding.

;)

I think Danimal and I will always look back at our 4 years in Memphis with fondness. It is certainly not a place that I would want to settle, but in our time there we made good friends and had good times. Memphis has its problems, for sure, but it is pretty, particularly in the spring and fall, affordable and the people are nice.

Why do you ask? Have you been there or do you have plans to go there sometime?

Could there ever really be enough Farrah?

Hmm... I think I will just leave that one alone.

Welcome, marsupial.

Welcome marsupial.

Is there a story behind your moniker?

Well my name is Marci and a friend from high school called me marsupial and I figured it went well with danimal.

I grew up in Northern California, BTW. I am trying to nudge danimal back there.

I was raised in Fairfield, currently live in Redding. I have close family still in Vacaville, Sacramento, Concord and Pittsburg. We've got much of Northern California covered. Danimal, listen to your wife. Its a great place to live and raise a family. And heaven knows there is plenty of mental illness here to keep you busy.

I think danimal is smarter than that.

1) close to in-laws is bad
2) it is not Texas
3) it is California

Close to in-laws is all relative. When I worked in Sacramento, it would take me 45 minutes to travel about 10 miles. Living and working in the Bay area could easily double your drive time. So even if you are 25 miles from the in-laws, it may as well be 2 hours, and most would agree that 2 hours is a good buffer.

As it is now, my parents visit 2-3 times a year and stay a week. So, I think a once a month visit for a few hours on a Saturday or a Sunday would be preferred to the current 24-7 in our house for an entire week three weeks out of the year.

Welcome.

I was born in No Cal and have family there and in Southern Oregon. I wouldn't try to live in No Cal these days. Housing prices are through the roof, clouds, and lunar orbit, and there seems to be more than the usual sample of complete crazies there. Maybe that's just the South Bay and Peninsula though.

When my in-laws come to visit they stay in a hotel. I hate the whole sleeping on the living room sofa-bed type thing. I can't walk to the fridge in my underwear in the middle of the night and I certainly don't want to see my mother-in-law going to the fridge in her underwear in the middle of the night [shudder]
