Congrats to the Utah Utes...
for winning the MWC baseball tournament.
This is actually big for the conference, as there will now be three teams in the NCAA Regionals. TCU and SDSU will get at large bids. Not bad for a conference that is usually weak in baseball. This may help the entire conference turn the corner and start to get better. |
Congrats to the BYU Cougars who get to finish their season early and get back to the things that are more important than sports, esp. baseball.

I could agree that there are things more important than baseball, but no sport is more important. Baseball is the one sport that I'm confident that the Almighty endorses. |
Congrats to the Utes, who just lost to Cal State Fullerton, 18-2.

I will always believe it's better to get your butt kicked in the NCAA tournament than not be in the NCAA tournament. |

When is the last time that BYU played in the regionals? Or made the postseason at all?

I know the Y made it to Omaha sometime between '81-'83 when there were some actual baseball studs on the team (Wally Joyner, Cory Snyder and Rick Aguilera). |
Well, Mike, you'll have to wait a bit longer. The Utes eliminated Gonzaga about 15 minutes ago and play CS-Fullerton at about 7:15 MDT this evening.
;) Sadly, my Marist Red Foxes were eliminated yesterday by Ohio State. In their first game if the regional against Fla. State, they got beat 16-4, but they put up a better fight against the Seminoles than the Buckeyes did today when FSU eliminated OSU by a score of 37-6. (No, they didn't play football) |
You'll be happy to know that Cinderella is dead, Mike. The Utes were pounded without mercy by Fullerton last night, 16-3.
The dream is over. |
