Thamudic alphabet similar to Dhofar
Interesting. I had not heard of this before.
http://www.viewzone.com/gillespie.html a comparison. http://www.viewzone.com/picket.thamudic.html |
that looks slightly suspect. I wish I was reading a peer-reviewed journal or at least a reputable news source, but instead I find myself reading a website with a link for numerology.

The website isn't the greatest. but the Colorado site is legitimate. I'll look for a scientific journal on the subject. I was simply in a hurry.

look forward to reading it.

Here is another link, which shows no Semitic language applied shows any direct correlation.

The author there, David Eccott, has authored another paper on Rochester Creek and the resemblance of these to Egyptian. I will have to pull the articles.

Here is an enthusiastic Omani scholar who visited the site in Colorado.

isn't there at least a FARMS/FAIR summary?

I found this from outside sources and had no idea BYU was involved.

There is a linguist who is documenting links between Uto-Aztecan and Hebrew/Egyptian.
There was a time when it was believed that all languages derived from Hebrew, so linguists were trying to document links between Indo-European languages and Hebrew. Then it turned out to be a farce. That's why nowadays if you try to tie anything to Hebrew, linguists will roll their eyes, "Not this again." Think you're a religious fanatic. But currently, 300 word correspondences between Uto-Aztecan and Egyptian, 1,000 between Uto-Aztecan and Hebrew. This has the support of several non-LDS linguists. And FARMS is wisely not funding this research. |

http://maxwellinstitute.byu.edu/publ...=66&chapid=730 It's interesting stuff, but it's more of an interest to me intellectually (I'm a Spanish professor), than an attempt at proving my faith or my doubts. |
