bishop is true, what would you have done when asked to read the letter from the 1st Presidency re: Proposition 8? Read it as is? Comment during Sac Mtg? Share your views in RS or Priesthood? Share your views privately with members who ask what they should do?

Why do you care? How does what PAC thinks affect you or your standing in the church?

It's cute that you believe that.

BTW, you left out a k.

exUte 10-30-2008 07:13 PM

Curious.

A bishop's perspective. Has nothing to do with my standing or affect me.

ARe you saying every inquiry on CG has to meet that test in your opinion?

But thanks for asking. What would you have done?

exUte 10-30-2008 07:14 PM

So, if you associate with

I'm just wondering why it is so important to you to know something like that.

I'm not nor have I been a Bishop, so I can't answer that.

exUte 10-30-2008 07:17 PM

It was a hypothetical

question. What WOULD (that's the hypothetical!) you have done?

Like I said i was curious. Someone who may oppose any of the church's directive, what would they do? That's the query.

It's called an inquiring mind. I would have thought that subject came up once or twice during your Ute education.

What I want to know is why it is important to keep putting your opening line in the subject heading?

exUte 10-30-2008 07:21 PM

It's not.

Just curious. I love to hear the mind of those who opening oppose the Church's directives and what they would do when their own views oppose the Church.

Fair enough.

If I was a Bishop, I would have done as the Brethren asked.

It seems to be a popular thing to do on CG to pile on exute, so I generally try to avoid that. But in this case, I'll go ahead and pile on.

Seriously, exie - what gives? Stop doing that. It's annoying.

Because it justifies you in your mind, so that you can feel righteous and look down upon his peons who do not conform to your interpretation of proper behavior. Analyze yourself first.

It threatens you psychologically that others may take a different course, where you felt safe believing you have been saved through your righteous actions. Yet cognitive dissonance arises and you are conflicted. It's your Ute heritage doing this to you.

IF you become a Cougar fully, you will embrace the diversity of opinion cougars enjoy. Shed your Ute heritage and pay no attention to Emily's List people.

Your post is offensive for multiple reasons, including the reference to my "claim" as having served as a bishop. I was thankful and humbled to be asked to serve, and I did so for several years to the best of my ability, such as it was. Even though you deserve a decidedly different response, I'll answer your questions honestly and sincerely: I would have read the First Presidency's letter as is, including the parts about tolerance and accepting whatever level of participation each member felt was appropriate. I would not have expressed my doubts or concerns to the ward in any meeting, nor would I have contradicted in private anything I said in public.

Had they been presented by a thoughtful person genuinely interested in discussion, your questions would be worthy of discussion. But your palpable self-satisfaction and condescension over the years, with never a hint of self-awareness or self-doubt, make you a very unpleasant person to deal with on the boards. Thus, with that, exUte, I'm through with you. Until you can (a) post without sounding consistently like an intolerant jerk, and (b) desist in your intentionally obnoxious use of the title line for part of your message, I have no interest in conversing with you.

What mumbo jumbo is that? I'll pose the question to you. What would you have done? read it and then offline told your congregation what?

Ute fans think alike, eh? Weak.

Almost as weak as your baseball smack.

What's happened, Archaea? You used to be pretty good at this.

Thanks for answering. That's what I was asking. I mentioned claim because there are a lot of folks on CG that claim they are something they are not. However my claim of superiority is truthful.

Crap, in five minutes you abandon the subject line schtick and even offer what I assume is a bit of uncharacteristic self-mocking: "However my claim of superiority is truthful." Let this be the start of a new board persona.

Still, I have my doubts, and I'm watching you. Snake eyes, my friend, snake eyes....

There are only 2 possible reasons he continues to do this despite many requests that he stop:

1. He is a complete and moron and has the IQ of a moldy turnip or
2. He is a total douchbag and persists solely because it is annoying.

Either reason fits. Take your pick.

**EDIT** I see that for the first time in his visits to this board ExUte changed his posting ways. I guess Number 1 wasn't the reason. Lets see if his douchbaggery lessens a bit with this new event

Baby steps everyone. It's only taken a couple of years to get him from posting in the subject line. Maybe in the next twenty years he can become someone who is thoughtful and considerate of others.
