For example, go to Ra and try a Las Vegas Roll.

You can get Vegas roll everywhere now. One of my favorites.

What's in a Vegas roll and where in Utah do you suggest I try one?

Well, the exact make-up varies a bit from place to place, but it generally has salmon, crab, and avacado and is deep-fried and has a spicy sauce on top. (anything tastes good deep-fried, eh?)

Here is the Happy Sumo version (look about half-way down on the right):

http://www.happysumosushi.com/sushi.html

Happy sumo is great, but pricey. They have one at Gateway.

The Benihana in downtown SLC has a $25 all-you-can-eat sushi special. It is good quality sushi and is a great bargain if one likes sushi. They have a similar Vegas roll that is deep-fried. They slice the roll and put each each slice on its side and then put a thin slice of a hot pepper and a dab of spicy sauce. Almost looks like a nipple on each slice (vegas roll - get it?). Has a very nice flavor if you like spicy food.

There is a place in Provo by Shopko called Asuka? that does a $15 all-you-can-eat sushi special. Not as good quality as Benihana, but well worth the price. They have a Vegas roll that is decent.

I love the nigiri sushi but it's price/enjoyment ratio is just too high when compared to the various maki-type sushi rolls you can get. The makis generally have a better price/enjoyment ratio, or, to coin a phrase, "more bang for the buck".

Of course, saying I prefer nigiri over maki is like saying I prefer man-on-top over women-on-top: either way it's still good.

That's why the all-you-can-eat deals are so good. You can load up on nigiri-zushi.

I am so jealous. I have never in my life heard of all you can eat sushi. That would be awesome.

I'm starting to think I should edit the title of the thread. SPAM and/or sushi matters: discuss here.

Maybe the reason you didn't like your casserole was because you made the wrong one. Perhaps you should try this variety instead. Yeah, do that.

I love nigiri and rolls though. I've eaten sushi most of my life. Sashimi too. I love it all.

My great grandmother was born in Waipio Valley but she was full Japanese and her parents were imigrants by the name of Kawashima who came to Hawaii to work the sugarcane plantations in Honoka'a on the Big Island around the turn of the century.

On Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives, Guy went to a Hawaiian place in Seattle that served Spam musubi. It looked pretty decent.
