If that's how it works, I need to get a bottle of that stuff.

I was frustrated by the last 7 minutes of the game. It seemed as if BYU was losing their nerve. They would run down, throw up a quick three (which would lead to UNC transition points), then inbound, then run down and throw up a quick three.

I know BYU can shoot the three, but try to count the number of times the ball went through Plaisted in the last 7 minutes. Almost none. That is on the coach. He needed a time out to remind the guys that Plaisted was BYU's best player and he should have a chance in every offensive set.

Still, hard to complain. BYU more than held their own against a sensational UNC team. This BYU team could be the best of my lifetime.

Everybody was trying to win the game with one shot during that period. Hopefully they will learn from that and be calmer under pressure in the future.

Pass the bowl please.

Hansborough didn't guard Plaisted, FYI. One exception was the end of the game when H stole it from Plaisted.

UNC had great defense. They cut off passing lanes, requiring very careful precise passes. Burgess could barely even put the ball on the floor due to their technique on D. To me that was the most impressive thing about UNC. Same thing happened last year against UCLA. UCLA had great defense. But this year we did a lot better, though we did still have 20+ turnovers against UNC.

You're right Cali, seems like they freaked a bit, kind of like Peter on the water (intentional religious comparison here). I kept thinking, work it into Plaisted first, and then see what happens; but the missed threes kept coming. I think they got way anxious at the end, not knowing how to finish.

I hope this team can improve and that this isn't as good as they get.

What an amazing two days in Cougar Basketball.

I agree. This team has room to improve and I was a little ticked the guys lost their composure at the end, jacking up needless shots and making bad entry passes, the athleticism of UNC notwithstanding. If we had stopped that three with 2:07 left, it might have been a different game. Right now, we have Tavernari and Plaisted, two great players for us, but we need to develop a third and a fourth to raise the bar.

Cummard needs to learn how to hold back to avoid some of those silly fouls. And we don't have a guy outside of Tavernari who is likely to knock down a jumper.

However, with Plaisted making improvement, it feels good to watch basketball again. Hopefully they won't lie down for anybody else and take it to Michigan State and Wake Forest showing no mercy in conference. At this early part in the season, they are playing better than all others, but championships are won in February and March, not November and December.

You're right, but NCAA seedings are sometimes largely determined in November and December.
