I dont read the rags because they are all behind. By the time it gets to print, it is old news.

I have some vested interests in this subject matter. Not financial ones, but as a hobby.

What's the purpose, and what information or types of information do our governments derive from such meetings?

That's why I am not commenting. I really don't have much of an idea beyond what one can easily gleen from news reports: central bank coordination? But it seems like that would be handled better at the G8. So I imagine it's like most "important meetings:" a little powerpoint ... people fall a sleep for a while ... then they hit the strip club.
