Congrats. As of yesterday I have lost 40 pounds since October. I have another 25 to go or so to make my goal weight. But I should be close to that by the end of summer.

Thanks. It's amazing how much this board has been a motivator. Keep it up. I want to hear an update come June.

I am now down nearly 55 pounds. I was a high of 245, and now am down to 191. My goal is to get my weight to around 170 pounds.

How have you been doing it?

It has been a process that has been taking place for over a year and a half and has kind of gone in spurts.

The first step was coming back to church, which meant giving up beer. At this time I also stopped drinking soda. That alone allowed me to drop down from 245 to 225.

The rest of the way has simply been to eat right. I actually think I have a pretty fast metabolism, I just ate horribly.

I no longer drink a 40 oz Slurpee every day. I no longer go and get fast food at midnight.

At this point I am eating around 1500 calories a day. I then make sure to exercise as much as possible. Since I am kind of at a crunch to get the weight off soon, I am in the mode of exercising 5-6 times a week.

In addition to going to the gym. I try to take the stairs at work. Going up 18 flights of stairs is a way to get your heart rate up early in the morning.

I need to be doing some other stuff besides riding the bike... although I'll always ride because that's what I love to do these days. I'm doing some ab work here and there and a tiny bit of running and a few curls. While my stomach is getting thinner, I'd like to do some other stuff like play basketball or something to get more fit.

It has felt good to lose the weight. That was the heaviest that I have ever been. I am still at 190 and I lost a little motivation because I look OK now. I am not embarrassed anymore...now with that said, I have decided I need to lose that last 10 pounds. I want it gone by the middle of July (1-2 pounds a week) so back to eating extra well and exercising just a bit more. We'll see how it goes.

I've lost a little motiviation too. I've eaten quite a bit of fast food the last couple weeks or so and I'm back up to 184. My pants are still getting bigger however so whatever. I'll re-commit too.

I started dieting at the end of April and dropped 12 lbs in 3 weeks, but since then I've been a slacker. Being in the south last weekend, I ate fried catfish and hushpuppies, plus pizza, cookies and Corky's BBQ.

I've found the key is eating right plus exercise. If I merely eat right, my weight stays the same. But if I want it to drop, exercise is a must.

Back on the saddle again...
