How the heck that Carrol kid didn't end up at the Y? I remember reading about him wanting to play for the Y but they didn't offer?

So, since I'm lazy and don't want to put the thought into it, just who did they take to pass on him?

The kid's got some skills and I cringe everytime the Y plays the Aggies and he lights them up.

Not to mention that he's fun to watch play. He's plays like he's just taken a hit of speed. Dude doesn't seem to tire of running around the endless number of screens that they set for him.

And another thought, would the Y been better to have hired Stew Morrill when the job was open instead of Cleve?

Look what he's done in Logan, you have to give the guy credit for that much.

Really, who would want to live in Logan, put Provo in there too, just for different reasons. Neither could be easy to recuit too.

in the BYU job, but I could be wrong.

As for Carroll, the kid is awesome and a lot of fun to watch. Fortunately, he missed what I was sure was the game winner last night.

Did BYU ever make an offer? Or was he one of those many that, for some reason or another, coaches didn't think would fit into their plans? Maybe he was Steve Cleveland's Kevin Curtis, eh?

(Sorry, had to get that shot in at Crowton.)

(Well, I'm not really sorry). ;)

A lot of people missed on Jaycee Carroll and a lot of teams are regretting it. Utah, Wyoming, and BYU all missed out on this kid. All probably could have had him with a scholarship offer.

But I do think that Morrill applied for the job and then withdrew, his name after awhile. Could have to do with the other factors of getting a job at the Y. And I'm basing that on things I have read and heard about Morrill. I may be wrong about that though.

I just wonder if the Y wouldn't have been better off if they had given him the job. It's just a "what if" thought I have on occasion.

But thinking about it maybe I'm giving him to much credit for things, because really USU and CSU haven't done anything in the NCAA tourney.

And as for Carrol, I'm pretty sure that he made it clear that he wanted to come to the Y. He was their's for the taking, I just want to know which stiff is on the roster taking his spot. Or was on the roster.

Morrill never was interested in the BYU job. He is LDS but inactive. He took himself out of the running early on and I don't think there was even much discussion. Too bad for us, but swell for the Aggies. He seems to be a good coach.

I don't know the story on Carrol. He definitely is a good player.

BYU decided to pursue and offer Sam Burgess instead.

I had one of the trainers in a class I taught and I asked him about Carrol. He said that they looked at him as a point guard but decided that he was too slow.

Well, I guess that would be considered a bit of a screw up then eh? I'll never understand why they wouldn't want someone that can shoot like that kid does on a team.

Especially a team of slow white guys.
